New Year, Same Me

Morning everyone! And, of course, Happy New Year.
I hope you guys don’t mind that I took a week off over the festive period. I figured no-one would be reading anyway and everyone needs a break sometime, right? Anyway, we’re back and ready for a new year and the same old same old otherwise.

How do you guys feel about new year’s resolutions?

Personally, I’ve ignored enough of my own to not bother anymore. But I think that, for some people, changing something about yourself by the time Big Ben bongs its last can have a real psychological benefit. There’s a finality to it.

Bong. No more gluten for me!

Bong. You’re a new person now.

Bong. Things are going to be different.

I hope that, if you’ve made a resolution, you can stick to it and improve yourself in whatever way you feel that you need to. For me, there aren’t really any resolutions as such, just little changes that I want to make to myself to improve my quality of life. I made such a huge change by leaving nursing last year that I don’t really want to make any sweeping changes. But I have a little list of things I’m going to try to do more often.

  1. No TV/phone/internet/emails for an hour before bed
  2. Read more (it helps me to write)
  3. Write more (it helps keep me sane)
  4. Keep this blog going until everyone starts screaming “Oh shut the hell up already!”

See? Nothing huge, just little changes that I think will reduce my anxiety, make my sleep pattern better, and generally make me feel better about myself. Here’s hoping!

That’s all for now. I hope to see more of you all this year.

Thanks for reading!

  1. The only resolution I’ve made is to run 1,000 miles in 2017. It’s something I had done in past years, but I got obsessive about it. So in 2016 I didn’t resolve that, and my running really slacked. So I learned that I need to have such a goal in my life. Beyond that I’ve not really set any tangible resolutions. Just keeping pace with day-to-day life is enuf for me most of the time.
